Frequently Asked Questions
Do you only work with children?
No, we work with clients across their lifespan.
Do you only work with parents?
Not at all. Continence is so universal, and we often work with school staff, support workers, and other caregivers – whomever is involved in the toileting journey! This is, of course, always done in conjunction with the parent or guardian.
Where do you work?
We offer a mobile service in Perth, Western Australia, which means we come to you.
We often work in a client's home, school, or in the community. Shopping center "toilet tours", meeting at the local library, park, or pool to check out the toilets there (after having some fun, regulating movement) are other places we have had sessions with clients. A parent guardian or other responsible adult will need to be present for all sessions, unless otherwise discussed.
We offer video consultation to clients in other parts of Australia and worldwide.
Do you only work with people with a disability?
Quite the opposite! Toileting can be challenging for any child, and we can offer advice and support to a wide range of clients.
Are your services covered by Australian National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)?
Yes. Clients with an NDIS plan that includes funding in the "improved daily living / capacity building" line item can use NDIS funds to pay for our services, provided they are self- or plan-managed. We cannot deliver services under NDIA-managed / agency-managed plans. We are AHPRA registered professionals in Australia.
Do you accept private health insurance?
We not able to directly invoice private heath insurance. Clients are responsible for payment of all service fees.
You may be able to make a claim on your own, particularly if you have a referral from a GP or allied health professional. Please discuss this with your insurance provider.
Is every client's plan the same?
Absolutely not. We begin with a thorough conversation about your continence needs and your goals. We will then create a plan that's specific to you and your family's needs.
We have many different tools and strategies at our disposal, and part of our job is to continually assess which ones are best for you and your family.
How long will it take?
It may not be a satisfying answer, but the truth is that everybody's continence journey is different.
How long it takes to achieve your continence goals will depend on many factors. We will always be up-front about the rate of progress that you can expect, and will never continue services when they are no longer needed, or if we think a different specialist should take over. We often say "the happiest day in a family's life is when they no longer need us!"
Should I start by contacting you, or my family doctor?
Although you're welcome to begin the process with your doctor, it's not required. No referral is necessary to access our services.
If, after a thorough assessment, we believe you need to speak to your doctor about a specific medical test or treatment, we can support you to request these through your doctor. We can also recommend other specialists who may be able to assist.
If you have an urgent medical concern, you should see your doctor or seek assistance at an urgent care or hospital emergency department. Our service does not replace medical intervention where it is required.
